British Embassy Cambodia visit

June 2025

As a trustee of Green Shoots Foundation and design guardian of their Agri-Tech Centre - a community-driven development hub in Samrong - Senior Partner Tim Gledstone recently travelled to Phnom Penh to join a UK-Cambodia architecture roundtable hosted by BritCham Cambodia and the Department for Business and Trade.

The event brought together experts from Broadway Malyan, Heatherwick studio and Zaha Hadid Architects to explore how we can shape human-centred, low-carbon cities and deliver sustainable urban strategies in fast-growing regions. The visit also coincided with celebrations for King Charles III’s birthday at the British Embassy in Phnom Penh, which spotlighted British architecture in Cambodia. Tim presented the Agri-Tech Centre as part of an evening themed around design, marking the imminent opening of Techo International Airport by Foster + Partners.

Completed in 2018 in collaboration with SAWA Architecture, the Agri-Tech Centre is helping transform local lives through education, innovation and access to opportunity. The centre acts as a space for exchanging agricultural knowledge, researching sustainable practices and building community resilience.
