For five years running, Squire & Partners in collaboration with Stone Federation has been invited to curate an explorative natural stone exhibit at the heart of the Surface Design Show's Stone Gallery. For 2025, the interactive installation celebrates the versatility of natural stone.
A response to the many objects and the wealth of tones and textures available from nature, the piece is a truly collaborative effort featuring the expertise and materials of a host of suppliers in the UK as well as overseas.

The Stone Tapestry is also seeking to shine a light on the UK’s own indigenous materials as well exploring stones from Europe. It aims to demonstrate to interior designers and architects that the variety of colours and textures available close to home removes the requirement to specify materials travelling many thousands of miles across the world.

The installation is expressed in hexagonal form, pulling on nature’s own creation, The Giant’s Causeway. The way in which the units are cut from a block of stone will ensure that the ‘offcuts’ are of the correct size and geometry to be made into tabletop accessories, mitigating any material waste.
