Building Design: R3 King’s Cross

Recent News

November 2015

Building Design featured the planning consent for R3 King’s Cross, designed by Squire and Partners as their first project for the King’s Cross Development Partnership. The 61-apartment scheme occupies a prime position between Lewis Cubitt Park and Jellicoe Gardens. Façade designs reference natural organic forms, and allude to the history of King’s Cross as a significant railway terminus with an intricately detailed contemporary envelope organised by a rational masonry frame.

Elevations are characterised by splayed glazing bays which undulate inwards from the building line to create striking geometric balconies, further animated with a bespoke pattern used on decorative latticed screens, solid panels and laser etched stonework.

Construction planned to begin in summer 2016.
