The London Borough of Wandsworth has resolved to grant planning permission for a new mixed-use development on the former gasholder site adjacent to Battersea Power Station.

Squire and Partners’ scheme for the five acre project on Prince of Wales Drive provides 839 new homes, as well as shops, cafes, restaurants and an educational arts campus, to the west of Battersea Park. The plan consists of 12 buildings ranging from 2 to 26 storeys in height, and includes a new landscaped public square.

The £367 million scheme is being developed by St William, a joint venture between developer Berkeley and landowner National Grid. Construction on site is expected shortly after spring 2016, with projected occupation in 2019.
