Squire and Partners were asked to undertake an office refurbishment and the creation of a new reception area at 21 Grosvenor Place – a 1930s block formerly known as Iron Trades House. The existing building was Classical in style, and Westminster planners were anxious to maintain its external integrity.
Squire and Partners were asked to undertake an office refurbishment and the creation of a new reception area at 21 Grosvenor Place – a 1930s block formerly known as Iron Trades House. The existing building was Classical in style, and Westminster planners were anxious to maintain its external integrity.
Two retained stone porticoes frame the new reception area, set behind a fully glazed facade framed in stainless steel.
Inside, white walls and limestone floors provide a clean and crisp look, with warmth and texture infused by the walnut veneered lift wall and black leather-clad reception desk, with a single panel of fine marble facing the street. An original steel column is retained, as a reference to the original associations of the building, and acts as a sculptural focus for the space.
The project included the complete refurbishment of four floors of offices and was completed within a 12 month construction programme.
