Squire & Partners won a selected competition and were subsequently appointed to act not only as architect but also interior designer and branding consultant for this prestigious site.
The design of the facades, apartment interiors and the signature brand were all coordinated to set a new standard for residential developments in Budapest. Within a limestone elevation, bronze bay windows and curved edged balconies with highly decorated metalwork reinterpret deco motifs in a contemporary manner, these features translating into the stonework and joinery within the apartments. The roof elements of the building had to be sensitively designed so as not to impinge on views from the Castle toward the Basilica. The form steps back from the building line and the perforated metal-clad penthouse blends into the surrounding roofscape.
A luscious green courtyard to the rear provides private garden spaces for residents to use, along with a large glazed rooflight providing light into the ground floor retail units.
