Sentinel House has been designed to provide an additional offsite provision of affordable homes for the residential-led St John’s Wood Square development.
Sentinel House has been designed to provide an additional offsite provision of affordable homes for the residential-led St John’s Wood Square development.
The design seeks to demolish an existing 1990s office building and replace it with a new residential building of 8 storeys, with an enclosed rooftop play space and a basement car park.
All 41 apartments are designed to meet the London Housing Design Guide standards and Lifetime Homes. Each apartment has its own private amenity area with larger terraces provided at the rooftop apartments.
The design of the building is a continuation of the redevelopment being undertaken in the area, but is respectful of the nearby Conservation Areas and Listed Buildings. A brick band expressing each floor slab provides the horizontal emphasis relevant in the local architecture, while recessed fenestration and balconies provide depth to the facade and vertical alignments as found in the residential building types in the area.
