Landmark Pinnacle is a 75-storey tower located in a prime position at the western end of Canary Wharf. Measuring 239 metres, the development for Chalegrove Properties Limited is the UK’s tallest residential tower and brings housing provision to one of the world’s biggest financial districts.
A collaboration between Squire & Partners’ architecture and interior design teams, Landmark Pinnacle has been conceived as a pure rectilinear form to create a coherent marker for the termination of South Dock. Unified by their architecture, Landmark Pinnacle and the neighbouring Landmark – a residential collection of four buildings completed by Squire & Partners for Chalegrove Properties Limited in 2010 – are connected by pedestrian routes which extend established public spaces to promote animation at the waterside.
Landmark Pinnacle’s timeless materiality references the fabric of its neighbouring buildings to ensure that the tower sits comfortably within the Canary Wharf masterplan. A crafted, patterned base made from perforated stainless-steel is inspired by the dockside structures and textures of the local area, whilst the reflective double-glazed façade provides a continuous, flush glass skin that mirrors the local context, the movement of the River Thames and the sky.
Internally, this glazing ensures that all 984 homes – a range of studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments – enjoy spectacular, uninterrupted views over the River Thames and London’s skyline to the west and the Canary Wharf docks to the east.
Four resident amenity floors located on levels 1, 27, 56 and 75 are distinctly demarcated through their extended height and differing façade treatment. A hireable cinema club on the first floor offers residents entertainment options outside of the apartment, whilst a panoramic sky garden on Level 27 offers flexible recreational space that brings biophilia to the heart of the building and create a valuable connection to green space in this dense urban context. Level 56 blends wellbeing and entertainment by offering a gym and yoga studio to the west and a lounge, games room, bar and private dining room to the east.
Finally, a pair of double height, landscaped sky terraces crown the development on Level 75. 610m2 of planted space incorporates greenery, alongside seating and relaxation areas. An open roof punctuated by a louvre system ventilates the space, whilst glazed walls protect from the elements.
