Squire and Partners’ development for Legal & General Property Ltd involved the redevelopment of three sites with frontages on Oxford Street and Dering Street. This prominent corner location on one of the major international shopping streets in the UK provided an opportunity to develop a large, modern and efficient retail space facing Oxford Street, and high quality residential accommodation on the upper levels and to the site facing Dering Street.
The re-construction involved the retention of the Victorian façades to Oxford Street and the corner of Dering Street. Behind the existing facades, new retail and residential accommodation is provided with a new brick elevation to Dering Street incorporating a public artwork, stack bonded brick panels and three bays of bespoke fenestration. This new façade re-animates the street by continuing the retail frontage from Oxford Street into Dering Street.
