Churchway forms part of Squire & Partners designs for UNISON’s headquarters, and includes 17 affordable units organised around a raised central podium which acts as a continuation of the atrium space of the UNISON office building.

Low rise mews style buildings surround a landscaped inner courtyard with natural stone paving, raised planters, seating and feature lighting, creating a sense of privacy and community. Balconies and roof terraces provide further outdoor space and additional layer of privacy.

The facades have been designed to integrate with other buildings on the site, while the use of brick clearly defines their residential use. As a whole, the scheme was designed to the highest conceivable environmental standards, with the residential element achieving both Lifetime homes ‘Very Good’ and Code for Sustainable homes Level 3 certification.

Churchway won the Best Small Development category of the Evening Standard New Homes Award in 2012.
