Squire and Partners was appointed to design a new high quality residential and mixed use scheme on Chiltern Street. Squire and Partners was appointed to design a new high quality residential and mixed use scheme on Chiltern Street. The proposals include two elements – one four storey building addressing Chiltern Street to the west, and one higher, stepped building of six to eight storeys, designed to enhance views to Paddington Gardens to the east.
The scheme provides sixty private and affordable apartments ranging from one to three bedrooms, which have been designed to maximise available light and space. Plans are contemporary, whilst respecting the character of the nearby buildings and the Paddington Gardens location.
The main bays are clad in reconstituted stone, giving a sharp, clean form to the main structure. Inside these frames a varied vertical pattern is created with coloured acrylic fins set in aluminium casing, which affords the building exterior colour, texture and depth.
