Anchorage Point is an early example of how the practice explored the industrial heritage of warehouse buildings in creating residential accommodation, delivered with a contemporary twist on a much-loved vernacular typology.
Completed in 1990 for Rosehaugh Copartnership Developments Ltd, Anchorage Point is a residential development on the Isle of Dogs, close to Canary Wharf.
The main riverside building provides 67 flats and 6 two-storey penthouses with views over the river, together with a health club and a swimming pool at ground level. Between this block and Westferry Road are nine mews houses and 41 flats surrounding a landscaped courtyard.

Ten years after its completion the development remained the most successful and exclusive residential development on the Isle of Dogs, with sales values to match its reputation.
The development sought to reinforce the planning framework developed by the LDDC which encouraged the design of traditional street patterns and urban spaces.
These traditional urban forms were adapted to contemporary needs and uses, while screens of glazing and contextual brick planes were introduced in a manner characteristic of Squire & Partners' work.
