Description
Squire & Partners was commissioned by St Edward Homes to progress conceptual designs for the Kensington Row site, closely following the principles set out in the practice’s Warwick Road masterplan – adopted by The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea in 2008 – which established building heights and layouts for the new residential quarter.
Kensington Row is the second part of the Warwick Road masterplan to be realised, following the completion of 375 Kensington High Street in autumn 2014, which won Evening Standard Best London Home the same year.
After achieving detailed planning permission, the practice was retained as Executive Architects, advising the construction on site. The first phase, Thomas Earle House, is an 11-storey apartment building comprising 82 apartments with a driveway entrance off Warwick Road. The block is L-shaped in plan, and addresses both the new linear park and an enclosed garden courtyard.
Three further buildings, including a slender 17-storey ‘campanile’ tower, provide a mix of a further 70 residential apartments with community uses at ground and lower ground floor levels.
