The client’s aspiration for this project was to create a sustainable masterplan addressing four separate sites in Mavisehir, a seafront residential district northwest of Izmir city centre.
The client’s aspiration for this project was to create a sustainable masterplan addressing four separate sites in Mavisehir, a seafront residential district northwest of Izmir city centre.
With an aim to establish a series of distinct communities catering to residents of all ages, the designs also needed to create a sense of place which reflects the local Turkish context through high quality modern architecture.
Squire and Partners’ proposal is a coherent response to the natural beauty of the site, and provides flexible accommodation with generous facilities for future resident communities. Neighbourhoods include green and car-free environments, public open squares and landscaped spaces, as well as traditional Turkish stone porticoes providing shade and shelter in all seasons.
