Greenwich Creekside Affordable HousingImages1 / Information
Location Greenwich, London
Status Completed 2011
Description
This urban regeneration project brings to life an industrial site between Deptford Creek and the Trinity Laban Dance School, and includes 66 affordable rent and 63 shared ownership apartments for London & Quadrant. The design of the scheme is tenure blind, with affordable units spread across three of the four blocks. All apartments have full height glazing and access to communal rooftop terraces with unobstructed views across the River Thames towards Greenwich and The City.
Three linear buildings provide a formal public face onto Creek Road, presenting a reflective facade punctuated by inset balconies and sky gardens. An 8-storey block with a striking triangular form and central atrium marks the corner of Creek Road and Creekside.
New pedestrian routes physically and visually connect to Creek Road, offering views into the central plaza and the dance school beyond. Lower level units house local businesses, creative studios, a nursery and a hotel. Retail and café units spill out onto the public plaza with its built-in seating, planting and a series of water features connected by a rill, designed to accommodate outdoor events and performances.
