A new home for the independent art school, next to the Tate Modern in the heart of Bankside’s cultural district.
Located within Triptych Bankside, a landmark mixed-use development designed by the practice for JTRE London, the new campus enables the Academy to expand its pioneering approach, providing subsidised exhibition spaces and low-cost studios for artists in Zone 1.

History
Previously housed in a historical building in Borough that presented accessibility challenges, the relocation to this purpose-built space ensures a fully inclusive environment for students, artists, and visitors.
Design Approach
The Academy’s extensive new home is set over two floors, including nine teaching studios, an auditorium and six specialist workshop spaces for painting, drawing, and sculpture.
A 2,000 sq. ft. public gallery on the ground floor will host exhibitions, artist talks, and corporate events, alongside a café and an art supplies shop offering materials and gifts created by Academy artists and students.
