Description
Squire & Partners is sensitively refurbishing and extending Building 7 at Devonshire Square in City of London – as one of a pair of adjacent buildings the practice is reimagining for client Nuveen – to create a vibrant office-led campus on the Liverpool Street site.
The revitalisation of Devonshire Square aims to breathe new life into the area by refurbishing and adapting individual buildings as they become vacant and enhancing the surrounding public spaces – rejuvenating the appearance, performance and culture of the place.
Squire & Partners’ designs seek to expand on the historical growth of Devonshire Square, from eighteenth-century warehouses to a series of converted offices, retail units and courtyards completed by Seifert & Partners in 1982.
Proposals include extending the ground floor and upper levels of the existing seven-storey building to provide new and improved entrances, two additional office floors and outdoor amenity in the form of balconies and roof terraces, while retaining the building’s polished granite stone exterior.
Office floors are designed as open plan, Cat A standard workspace, and new end of journey facilities will be provided by transforming the basement.
The reimagining of Building 7 aims to seamlessly integrate it into its surrounding area, enhancing the existing unwelcoming public realm, and creating a more sustainable, healthy and inclusive environment that targets BREEAM Outstanding rating and a 5-star NABERS score.
