Location London SW1
Status Completed 1998
Greencoat House, located behind Victoria Street, was formerly the depository for the nearby Army & Navy stores. Squire and Partners’ transformation of the building for client Derwent London in 1998 created workspaces for a community of small to medium size businesses – many of them media-based – while respecting the original features of the late Victorian structure.
The Brand Union is one of these businesses – relocating from Soho, the company commissioned Squire and Partners to design its new offices on two floors of Greencoat House, connected by a new stair. A particular requirement was the provision of informal spaces for meetings, and social spaces for entertaining clients.
Flexible interconnecting areas were provided on the first floor using large glazed moveable partitions, with offices located on the second floor, organised around a central spine which housed communal facilities such as printers and copiers.
