Status Planning consent 2019
Description
Squire & Partners gained planning consent in 2019 for the refurbishment and extension of a 1990s office block on the corner of Manchester Square in London’s Marylebone.
Externally, an extension is created at the rear of the building and a new set back fifth floor replaces an area of rooftop plant. Existing brickwork on the front facade will be darkened to contrast with deep white window reveals and patterned spandrels, which take their cue from historic buildings within the square. At ground level the entrance is relocated to the centre of the façade, and existing windows are reconfigured to establish a more prestigious reception area.
Internally, a new core creates high quality flexible office space and allows each floor to be subdivided. The new mansard level employs a palette of materials complimentary to existing slate rooftops surrounding Manchester Square. A landscaped terrace with dark metallic planters creates greenery at rooftop level, and a pleasant outdoor space for tenants.
