Squire and Partners have gained planning consent for a mixed use development on a 7,350 sqm site in Wandsworth which includes the former Price’s Candle Factory. The scheme retains three existing factory buildings, adding a two storey extension to accommodate new flexible workspace and retail. New elements comprise a 25 storey residential tower and a new 5 storey office building along with extensive landscaped public amenity spaces.


The retention of the Victorian Candle Factory buildings is a key design feature of the scheme, integrating the heights and materials of the existing buildings while introducing new modern elements which create a clear contrast between old and new.


The plans have been carefully designed to respond to the environment, urban context and the aspirations of the local community. The balance of uses, building footprints, amenity spaces and building heights have been thoroughly considered to deliver a project that can meet the strategic requirements of the users, community, local authority and the GLA.
