Status Consented 2011
Squire and Partners, with Dixon Jones and landscape designer Kim Wilkie, were selected by Qatari Diar to masterplan the former Chelsea Barracks site in Chelsea, following a rigorous selection process.
Consented in June 2011, the masterplan creates a framework for the 12.8 acre site, including sustainable land use mix and public realm to deliver a world-class, residential led development that enhances the setting, heritage and context of this historic area of London.
Key aspirations, created alongside a thorough public consultation process, include a permeable layout of streets and spaces, diversity of scale and character, balance between building heights, recognition of the historic axis of Ranelagh Grove, and the creation of views of St Barnabas’ spire.
Detailed planning consent for first phase of the redevelopment of Chelsea Barracks was granted by Westminster City Council in May 2014. The designs comprise three eight storey buildings, housing 74 properties designed to set a new global standard in urban living. The residences, located on the north-western edge of the Chelsea Barracks site, will feature apartments, duplexes and four duplex penthouses enjoying views over Ranelagh Gardens and the River Thames.
